As a coach, I work 1-on-1 with nonprofit/NGO leaders and executive directors seeking clarity in their personal and professional development. Coaching clients are often navigating organizational development challenges, imposter syndrome, burnout and compassion fatigue, mental health challenges, unhealthy workplace or industry cultures, and professional stagnation or isolation. Coaching engagements typically last 12 months or longer, and can provide invaluable strategic guidance and emotional support for social changemakers.
I practice healing-centered and trauma-informed coaching. In my coaching practice, I nurture clients to expand into their wholeness and embrace their transformative purpose. I have completed the 60-hour Blooming Willow Conductors Coach Certification Program (International Coaching Federation (ICF) ACSTH certified training program). While there may be overlap between these modalities, here are some brief definitions:
Coaching “Partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” ~International Coaching Federation
Consulting “Experts paid for their industry experience, guidance, and execution to use proven methods and strategies to help you reach your goals.” ~ Lisa Guillot
Mentoring “A relationship between two people where the individual with more experience, knowledge, and connections is able to pass along what they have learned to a more junior individual within a certain field.” ~ World Education Service
Therapy “Helping people with physical, emotional, and mental health issues improve their sense of well‐being, alleviate feelings of distress, and resolve crises.” - American Psychological Association
For clients who experience significant overlap in their therapeutic and coaching experiences, I describe coaching as focused on changing your present and future actions, beliefs, and conditions, while therapy tends to focus on the past and present through exploring root causes of trauma, symptom alleviation, and integrating healing practices.

Coaching is an intimate relationship, and it’s important to find a coach that is a good fit for you. Most coaches offer complimentary consultation / sample sessions. I recommend interviewing or doing sample coaching sessions with at least 3 coaches who you feel may be a good fit. Some questions to ask your coach:
What is your mission or values statement as a coach?
Who do you typically work with?
What coaching training have you participated in?
What is your coaching specialty or areas in which you most often work?
Who would not be a good fit to work with you?
If you have time, you may also consider asking for 1-2 references of former clients who you can reach out to.
In order to find a coach, ask your peer or funder networks for referrals, or check online directories of coaches. Peers in your network or shared movement context may have the best referrals for finding a coach who is most aligned with the area you work in. As a starting point, the International Coach Federation (ICF) offers a searchable database of credentialed coaches.

In our sessions, you will experience 4 distinct phases of coaching: grounding, introductory questions, exploration, and next steps.
Grounding: Each coaching session will open with a brief somatic grounding activity to support the coach and client to attune to the present.
Introductory questions: Coaching will begin with a set of standard, introductory questions to ask the client what they would like out of the coaching session.
Exploration: The coach will guide the client with deeper, probing questions about the coaching topic selected. Additional activities may include role play, guided visualization, somatic awareness exercises, etc.
Next steps: Coaching sessions will end with clear next steps for the client to advance their own goals.
